Fred on the Issues

I’m dedicated to addressing the critical issues facing Albemarle County — and I believe we can do it by blending sustainable growth with thoughtful preservation. My priorities are rooted in creating an economically strong, environmentally resilient, and socially equitable future for every resident.

Here’s where I stand on the issues that matter to our community:

Affordable Housing & Balanced Growth

I support initiatives that expand access to affordable housing through strategic partnerships and smart funding — while protecting the unique character and charm of our county. Growth doesn’t have to mean giving up who we are. It can mean expanding opportunity while staying true to our core values.

Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability

As someone who’s worked in design and development for decades, I know how critical it is to take action on climate. I prioritize projects and policies that protect our land, water, and open spaces — and that prepare us for a changing environment. That includes infrastructure that adapts to new challenges, and policies that ensure our county’s natural beauty remain for generations to come.

Transportation Improvements

Reliable, efficient transportation affects all of us. I’m committed to addressing traffic congestion and improving how we move through our region by supporting local and regional infrastructure upgrades, as well as investing in collaborative public transit solutions. These improvements are critical to support housing and our economy.

Public Safety
Supporting Rural Areas
Quality Education

Keeping our community safe is a top priority. I support improving emergency response times and the strategic addition of new police officers. Public safety is about strategic planning, community engagement, and resources that support everyone’s well-being.

Education shapes everything. I’ve spent years mentoring students, so I’ve seen firsthand the power of a strong school system. I’ll advocate for competitive teacher salaries, modernized facilities, and thoughtful educational investments that keep up with our growing population and evolving needs.

Albemarle’s rural areas are part of who we are — and I’m committed to respecting and protecting them. That means promoting sustainable strategies that honor our county’s agricultural heritage while supporting the families, businesses, and traditions that make these areas thrive.
