A Note From Fred
Hi Neighbor,
For years, I’ve had the honor of serving this community I care so deeply about. Albemarle County is where I live, it’s where my wife and I raised our daughters, where I’ve invested my career, and where I believe thoughtful, inclusive leadership can help every person and neighborhood thrive.
I’m running for the Board of Supervisors because I believe in the power of respect, smart growth, shared vision, and transparent, thoughtful decision-making. Together, I know we can build a future that works for everyone who calls Albemarle County home.
I hope you’ll take a moment to get to know me better through the information below and feel free to email or call if you have questions or thoughts.
Thank you for your time, trust and support!
Family Focused
My family’s roots are here. My wife and I are proud parents of two daughters who both graduated from local public schools and now raise families of their own here in Virginia. We’re also doting grandparents to a spirited granddaughter who keeps us smiling and grounded.
This is personal for me. I want Albemarle County to be a place where families like mine — and yours — can thrive for years to come.
Proven Experience & Mentorship
For over two decades, I’ve worked at the University of Virginia Foundation, leading design and development projects that prioritize sustainable growth and responsible land use. Through over 15 years of Albemarle County Architectural Review Board and Planning Commission service, I’ve been hands-on in shaping how our region grows — not just in what we build, but how we build, with care for future generations.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is mentoring students at UVA’s School of Architecture. Helping the next generation of planners and designers think critically about sustainability, community design and housing equity gives me genuine hope for what’s ahead.
Vision
I see a future for Albemarle County that honors our natural heritage while embracing innovation and resilience. That means climate-ready infrastructure, housing opportunities for all, excellent schools, safer roads and transit, and collaborative planning that truly reflects our community’s values.
Leadership is about listening, respecting, discerning, working across differences, and making sure our county thrives economically, environmentally, and socially for generations to come.
Leadership Approach
Leadership, for me, starts with listening and respect. I believe in slowing down enough to ask the right questions, truly hear and discern the answers, and move forward with clarity and accountability.
That’s how I’ve led throughout my career, and it’s how I’ll serve on the Board of Supervisors — with transparency, integrity, and a commitment to thoughtful dialogue that drives responsible governance.
"In addition to being smart and highly experienced, Fred prioritizes listening and collaborates well with diverse groups of people. Our beautiful community has important challenges and growing pains. We need leaders who know how to protect our water resources, our rural character and who understand how to design and build quality development. Fred will be the perfect addition to the Board of Supervisors."
Past Chair, Albermarle County Board of Supervisors
