Fiscal Responsibility & Accountable Governance
As a candidate for the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, I believe that responsible financial stewardship is fundamental to good government. Taxpayers deserve a County government that respects their hard-earned dollars, makes smart investments, and plans for the long term—not just the next election cycle.
A Smart Approach to Spending
I will advocate for a County budget that reflects our shared values—supporting core services like education, infrastructure, emergency services, and rural broadband—while also ensuring we’re not spending beyond our means. Every dollar the County spends should deliver measurable value to our residents.
Planning for Long-Term Financial Health
Debt can be a useful tool, but it must be used wisely. I will support borrowing only for high-priority capital projects that benefit the community for generations. And I’ll advocate for financial planning that accounts not just for today’s needs, but tomorrow’s obligations.
Growth That Pays Its Way
Growth is inevitable—but poorly planned growth is expensive. I will advocate for land use decisions that align with smart growth principles: concentrating development where infrastructure already exists and ensuring that new development pays its fair share of the costs it creates.
Transparency and Accountability
Efficiency, Not Bureaucracy
Local government should be open and accessible. I will work to make the County’s budget process transparent, so residents can easily see where their money is going and how decisions are made. Clear communication builds public trust—and I intend to lead by example.
A growing County must also be a nimble one. I’ll support periodic performance reviews and efficiency audits across departments to reduce waste, streamline operations, and ensure County services are working as intended.
